Senator Telo T. Taitague yesterday introduced Bill No. 379, providing senior citizens priority assistance at all government of Guam agencies. Entitled the “Move to The Front of the Line” Act, the initiative focuses on ensuring Guam’s senior citizens and individuals with mobility disabilities are served quickly and efficiently when conducting government business transactions.

“Throughout the month of May, Guam will be celebrating Senior Citizens Month. I believe it’s important to provide a level of customer service that reflects the cultural heritage of respect and appreciation that is shown to all manamko’ here in the islands,” Senator Taitague said. “I’ve introduced this legislation to provide our manamko’ priority in our government service lines. Many private businesses offer this service, but I believe it should be mandated when it comes to government services.”

Senator Taitague introduced also Bill No. 381-30, which, if passed will mandates employee leave for victims of violence and their immediate families to obtain the services necessary to remedy a crisis caused by domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.

“Victims of violence are forced to endure unimaginable physical and mental trauma and it is critical that they have the support they need to overcome these challenges,” Senator Taitague said. “These individuals must focus on the healing process and should not worry about employment during such a difficult time.”

In addition, Senator Taitague continues to support government efficiency and environmentally friendly initiatives with the introduction of Bill No. 380 – 30, requiring all government forms and applications to be placed on each agency’s official webpage.
