Attorney General’s Office Testifies in Favor of Bill 345

Senator Taitague pushes measure to assist AG’s Office in recovering costs associated with PL 30-72
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 7, 2010

Deputy Attorney General Phillip Tydingco today testified in favor of Bill No. 345, a measure introduced by Senator Telo Taitague, which, if passed, will allow the Attorney General’s Office to bill autonomous agencies or corporations for a recently-mandated service.

Public Law 30-72, passed by the 30th Guam Legislature earlier this year, requires the AG’s Office to provide oversight and advisement for all government contracts worth more than $500,000. Senator Taitague’s bill will allow the AG’s Office to recover costs incurred by unfunded mandates.

“The Attorney General’s Office, like many of our government agencies, is forced to do more with less. We have got to take a look at the bigger picture and realize the myriad of responsibilities to which this office already is mandated.” Senator Taitague said. “Bill 345 will provide an additional revenue stream for the AG’s Office as these hardworking men and women tackle its many challenges.”
