With the introduction of legislation to curtail the harmful effects Ordot landfill has on nearby residents and the knowledge and foresight to foresee the possible effects a solid waste landfill will have on the people of Inarajan, Senator Taitague is taking her public service mission to the next level with an increased focus on environmental issues.

“Our community is already preparing for a population and construction boom that will no doubt have enormous consequences on our environment and our resources,” Senator Taitague said.  “We as lawmakers must work diligently and act quickly as the lives of our people, the Guamanian people who have called this island their home for decades, will change drastically in the days ahead.”

Senator Taitague recently introduced Bill No. 303 which, if passed, will recognize the villages of Inarajan and Ordot-Chalan Pago as a “Host Community.”  Recognizing the many needs of a community designated as the site for solid waste management ad disposal, this legislation seeks to provide certain benefits, inclduding additional funding, to mitigate any environmental impact to the area and its residents.
