Senator Telo Taitague's Work

Inspiring Our Youth

Building a solid foundation for our youth to succeed goes beyond the difficulties we face as a government struggling to adequately fund the Department of Education. It starts in our homes with our own children, nurturing their needs as parents and teaching them to become responsible members of our society.

But too often, many of our less fortunate youth find themselves in difficult situations with almost no way out.  Circumstances beyond their control lead them down unsupervised and troubled paths that can often lead to addiction, teenage pregnancy and crime.

Fortunately, there are a number of government agencies, organizations and individuals in this community who reach out to our children in need.  From Sanctuary, Inc. to the Department of Youth Affairs and the District Court of Guam’s stringent programs and policies, many troubled adolescents have access to the support and resources they need to overcome the challenges they face at this critical stage in their young lives.

Senator Telo is a great proponent of these youth organizations and spent some time with these individuals to inspire young women at the Department of Youth Affairs.

This past Holiday Season, Senator Telo helped these young women to look past their current predicaments for a moment and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.  With songs, gifts and food for these children, Senator Telo hopes to make this an annual tradition and invites the community to help share your love with our island’s troubled youth.
