Senator Telo introduced legislation mandating the Department of Revenue and Taxation to provide hearing-impaired drivers with decals and placards to inform law enforcement and emergency personnel of communication needs. In addition, Bill 282 also provides a hearing-impaired distinction on driver’s licenses to increase efficiency.
“Streamlining government operations and improving efficiency for the people we serve is an issue we’ve faced for decades,” Senator Taitague said. “It is critical that we take the needs of our citizens with disabilities into consideration and address the matters that concern them most so we can better protect their health and safety and in turn, make our entire community a safer place for all.”
